Georg Schimmelpfennig was a Kassel court musician, lutenist and teacher of his employer Landgrave Moritz’s eldest daughter, Elisabeth von Hessen. They worked together on Italian Madrigals, which she wrote and he set to music. This collection is of 11 songs with lute accompaniment.
