These eight fantasies have been available in their original pitches for years, set for 2 treble, tenor and two bass viols. The ranges of each part are on the high side: the basses rarely play on their lowest string, and the treble parts are on their highest fret on the top string for what can seem to be a tedious amount of time. To give the tenor viols a chance to shine, we have provided this new edition set for two tenors, tenor or bass, and two bass viols. The sound of a consort playing in this range is quite breathtaking.
